The 2006-07 Ukrainian Premier League season is the sixteenth since its establishment. The official name of the competition was Soyuz-Viktan Ukrainian football championship. Soyuz-Viktan became the first title sponsor in the League's history.

The season started on July 21, 2006 with the game in Kiev, Dynamo - Chornomorets 4:1. The last day of the competition was June 17, 2007. The winner of the championship was declared Dynamo Kyiv acquiring their 12th title defeating the reigning champion Shakhtar Donetsk that was holding the title for the last couple of years. The season was also relatively low on scorers with the top goalscorer, Oleksandr Hladky, only netting thirteen goals. Seweryn Gancarczyk, a native of the Western Halychyna topped the list of the goal assistants with eight critical passes.

Dynamo managed to finish the season undefeated with only eight games tied. During the season only two teams never lost to the champion, tying on the both occasions: Metalurh Donetsk and Vorskla Poltava. Shakhtar was able to lose four out of its five games on home turf. Metalist managed to reestablish itself as the top gun of the national competition by placing third and earning a set of medals for the first time in club's history. Metalist finished equal on points with Dynamo in the second half and only trailing Shakhtar by two points at the finish line of the competition.

Illichivets was forced into relegation for the first time since entering the League 10 years ago. Stal was relegated as well. It was the second time for that club.

The average attendance of the championship was 9,056 which is less than 1% of country population. The most popular clubs were averaging: Shakhtar (19,193), Karpaty (18391), and Zoria (14333).
